Put a spotlight on your art!

Whether you are in the gaming, film, or art industry, the ability for you as an artist to showcase your portfolios is incredibly important as a show of work for potential employers. Well there is a wide range of portfolio services all with their pros and cons. As a student coming out of high school or through a portfolio, it can be a difficult decision to make.

So here are a couple options!

Starting with number 1, ArtStation has built itself a reputation to be a leading showcase platform for professionals within the gaming, film, media & and entertainment industries. You can find League of Legends’ character designers on the product as well as 3d animators from ILM. Many organisations often hire directly through ArtStation due to its reputation.

Moving onto price, ArtStation has three plans, Basic, Plus, and Pro, which come with the following.

  • Basic portfolio website
  • Ability to sell digital products through ArtStation with a 15% fee

Behance, a social network for graphic designers, illustrations, and other artists in the professional world. While ArtStation is more aligned with digital art, Behance has a wider range of fields such as UI/UX design, photography, fashion, and architecture. One big perk is that Behance is free and is an excellent tool to bring attention to your work, a wide range of organisations use Behance to contract or hire freelancers.

Overall though, both platforms are great for showcasing your portfolio and it truly comes down to your needs. Due to Behance’s wider range of fields it also has a larger user base, but ArtStation has more user control over their portfolio presentation and is more focused on animation or digital art.
